Italy

We entered Italy via the coast road from Monaco to stop our first night on a coop sosta at SanRemo next to the football stadium, not quite what we had become used to from our travels in France but somewhere to stay non the less. We had a quick walk into town to see the Italians practising the normal driving which is suicidal with no regard for anyone else.

The next day we continued through SanRemo  [1 hour] to stop at the small marina at St Stefano Al Mare with fellow Italian motorhomers, quite and free with a bit of sea fishing as well a nice rest after the caotic day before. In the morning we pressed on via the motorway [much better] to arrive at the town of Abissola Marina near to Savona, here we were cramed into a Sosta in the middle of town-not very nice. After lunch we ventured out on the scoter into Savona for a look around-the angels must have been with us as we made it back in one piece .

After a noisy night we ventured into Tuscany to see if it was any different their, wrong as we could not even park by the beach for a look around with out being harassed by traffic wardens even though we had paid so we took to the hills to try and find somewhere. After 2 hours driving we arrived at Lucca and parked next to some Germans on a large carpark, they promptly told us to move on as both themselves and another motorhomer had been robbed that very day. With this we decided enough was enough and promptly took to the motorways and drove vie Firenze and Bologna to end up after a very long day outside Venice behind a police station- the best night`s sleep we had had in 3 days.

The next morning we hopped over the border into Slovenia vowing never to return to Italy again , as they are loud, thoughtless, arogant and very bad drivers who only think of themselves, how they ever get anything done is beyond us and they arrive on the sostas late at night and shout but won`t park on their own anywhere it is a shame as the country is very beautiful except for the Italians.
